If you are replacing another internal component on your dryer, it's often a good idea to replace the belt while you have the dryer apart. A cracked or fraying belt should be replaced as well.
When replacing the belt, pay close attention to the routing of the belt around the pulleys. Your new belt will often be up to a couple inches shorter than your old belt - that's because the old belt will have stretched.

Is it worth replacing a dryer belt?
Dryer belts are almost always worth replacing. Even if your dryer belt is not broken, it is usually a good idea to replace an older belt when repairing another part of the dryer.
How do I know my dryer belt is broken?
Often your drum will not turn with a broken belt. However if your motor runs and the drum is not turning, the belt needs to be replaced. A slipping belt, a frayed or dry rotted belts should be replaced as soon as possible.
